The Continuing Professional Development (CPD) subcommittee meets six weekly and plans the CPD activities for the Division. In most weeks from February to November at least one CPD activity usually occurs. On a yearly basis two weekend seminars are planned which involve residential programs addressing topical issues. Successful seminars on cardiovascular health, diabetes, IMIT, nutrition, dermatology and doctors health have been held in the past. Topics for the weekend seminars and weekday presentations are determined as the result of a CPD survey of GP members. The Division due to its strong CPD activities has been awarded the ability to award CPD points for its own activities by the RACGP.

The IMIT Subcommittee actively promotes the adoption and use of computers in general practice. It also is focusing on the use of information technology to aide in information management. It has fostered a skilled group of GPs to provide peer group training to other GPs. Regular educational activities provide training opportunities to both GPs and practice staff. Practice visits provide technical support and individual tuition.
