General Practice Accreditation

The Division provides support for general practitioners and their staff to achieve Accreditation under the RACGP Standards for General Practice in the following ways: 
  • Trains and supports a Team of Accreditation Advisers (local practice managers, practice nurses, practice staff and general practitioners) that visit a practice and provide advice and resources to colleagues.
  • Provides resource kits in:
  • Accreditation Policy and Procedure Manuals
  • Infection Control Guidelines for Office Based Practice

  • AGPAL approved Patient Survey

  • Facilitates network meetings of Practice Managers and Practice Nurses to exchange ideas and experience.

  • Practice staff identify their training needs and recommend workshops.  To date workshops have included:

  • First Aid for Practice Staff

  • C.A.R.E. Workshops

  • GP Business Advantage Workshops (for general practitioners and their staff)

  • Diabetes Education Certificate Courses for Practice Nurses

  • Dealing with Difficult People

  • Asthma Update and Management for Practice Nurses

  • Long service Leave

  • Private Billing

  • Dietetics

  • Care Planning

  • Medical Director
