Electronic Communication - GPs and Specialists

Mornington Peninsula Division of General Practice is encouraging its general practice members and local specialist to pass referral information, reports and specialist letters using a suite of free software provided by ArgusConnect Pty Ltd.

ArgusConnect Pty Ltd is a company that operates in Australia to deploy, install, support and further develop the Argus suite of secure messaging software products under licence from the Health OpenWare Foundation – the not-for-profit steward of the Argus range of products.

Argus is a computer program that enables health service providers to securely exchange clinical documents between their computer systems via email. It runs on any doctor’s computer alongside existing clinical software and enhances internet email with additional features for clinical needs such as security through the use of PKI encryption, the HL7 clinical data standard for computer-to-computer interoperability, and additional mechanisms that ensure recipients receive clinical information reliably and securely.

Requirements

• PC with Windows 98, 2000, XP, Linux or Apple Macintosh with OSX

• GPs - Clinical software with pathology report receipt capability (PIT or HL7)

• Specialists - Clinical software with pathology report receipt capability or MS Word for report typing

• Internet connectivity - Dial up or broadband (any speed greater than 28K)

• Email address specifically dedicated for clinical messaging

• HeSA PKI certificate for the practice

Locating Users

• Go to http://www.argusconnect.com.au/
• From the menu click on Argus Users Directory </index/argus_users_directory
• Select from the dialogue page View the Argus Users Directory Search Page
• http://www.argusconnect.com.au/secure/aud_search/>.
• http://argusldap.argusconnect.com.au/>
• In the site identifier 'my_practice.bin'. The bin file is found in the Argus Directory installed at your site.
• Click on 'Login'
• Add the search criteria
• Division Refine by State 'Victoria' Mornington Peninsula
• Division of General Practice
• Click on 'Add Criteria'
• Click on 'Search the Argus Users Directory'
• The search results then appear.
